    Eat only one meal a day 2 or 3 times per week. This is one of those rapid weight loss tips. If you can do it, and it will take some discipline and courage, you will lose weight massively fast. This is known as intermittent fasting and has been shown to help stabilize blood sugar and result in fast weight loss. If you can do this on an ongoing basis you’ll never get fat.

      Eat only 2 meals a day 6 days a week. This is similar to number 2 above, but allows you to eat 2 meals per day. This is the regular program that I am on. I have a sensible but late breakfast, usually at around lunch time which will be a bowl of oatmeal or a bowl of high fiter cereal with soymilk. Then I don’t eat until dinner which is usually a decent sized meal. But still, it can be hard to gain weight if only your one meal is sizeable. This will work well and is easier to maintain.

        If you get hungry throughout the day, you can eat 3 meals a day. However, the more meals you eat, the smaller the portions you have to eat in order to lose weight consistently and permanently. Though many people prefer this program, you need to make sure you don’t eat more than around 500 to 600 calories per each meal. For some folks this approach works very well.

          Eat 5 or 6 meals per day. Some of you just need to be eating every 2 to 3 hours. As with number 4 though, you are going to have to limit your meals to smaller portions. If you can eat 300 to 400 calories per meal you can enjoy up to 6 meals per day. If you like 500 to 600 calorie meals 3 times a day, the other 2 or 3 meals will have to be snacks of around 100 calories each. The idea here, is that you need to come to understand your body and what works for you. All of these approaches will work if you are disciplined and they fit authentically within your lifestyle and physiological needs.

            If you are disciplined 5 or 6 days a week you will see slow but steady weight loss and you’ll be able to have a cheat day once per week. This is extremely helpful for the mind and emotional needs during extreme weight loss. Even just consistent but small weight loss requires a break where you let loose now and then.

              DON’T do paleo or Atkins or some other type of high protein low/no carb diet. These can cause dramatic weight loss but they are  not the best for long term health and longevity. Burning ketones for fuel long term is detrimental and the science will vindicate me on this over the coming years. Trust me, your health is more important than your short term weight loss goals.

                Having said that, if you can, eat a lower fat nutritionally dense vegan diet if you can. This the best diet for long term health, so long as it doesn’t include fried and processed foods. Beans, grains, vegetables and fruits are your weight loss friends and compadres.

                  Regardless of the diet you follow, always choose less processed foods whenever possible. Avoid pop, candies and fried foods whenever you can. Just doing these things and moving towards a minimally processed diet will all by itself cause steady and long term weight loss until you reach your goal. It will also ensure that you remain as healthy as possible.

                    Choose beans 3 or 4 times a week in place of meat and other animal muscles. Beans have the protein you require, they offer great mouth feel, are tasty, have tremendous amounts of fiber, vitamins and minerals and they satiate you very well. They are also very kind to blood sugar levels.

                      Drink coffee (if you do and you like it) with minimal sugar and/or cream if used at all for your morning beverage. Enjoy green and black teas for lunch. These beverages help boost your metabolism ever so slightly as well as offer tremendous health benefits including polyphenols and other anti-carcinogens. They’ll keep you healthy while helping you shed lost of pounds.

                        Try and move around more. Every little bit helps. Get up and walk to your colleague to chat to them rather than phone or email. Park far from the mall for a little extra walk. Just take walks now and then to get your body moving. Your body needs this and appreciates it.
